American Estate & Trust (AET) allows account holders to pay their account fees using a credit card. This guide explains how to link a credit card, make payments, and manage your payment method through the AET online portal.
Accepted Credit Cards
AET accepts the following credit cards for account fee payments:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- American Express
💡 Note: A credit card can only be used for paying AET account fees and cannot be used for IRA contributions or investments.
How to Link a Credit Card
To use a credit card for account fee payments, it must first be linked to your AET account.
Steps to Link a Credit Card:
- Log in to your AET online portal.
- Navigate to the Profile tab.
- Select Payment Methods.
- Click Link Credit Card.
- Enter your credit card details as prompted.
- Click Submit to complete the process.
Your credit card is now linked and can be used to pay fees.
How to Pay Your AET Account Fees with a Credit Card
You can make payments using your linked credit card either manually or automatically.
Option 1: Automatic Payments
- Account fees are automatically charged to your linked credit card on the 3rd of each month.
- If your card is declined, you will receive a notification, and you must manually update your payment method.
Option 2: Manual Payments
If you prefer to make payments manually, follow these steps:
- Log in to your AET online portal.
- Navigate to the Invoices section from the dashboard.
- Locate any open invoices.
- Click Make Payment.
- Select Credit Card as your payment method.
- Click Submit to finalize the payment.
How to Change Your Payment Method to a Credit Card
If you are currently using another payment method (such as a bank account or IRA balance) and want to switch to a credit card:
- Log in to the AET online portal.
- Go to the Invoices section.
- Click Change Payment Source.
- Select your linked Credit Card from the dropdown menu.
- Click Submit to confirm the change.
📌 Important: Switching from an IRA balance to a credit card for fee payments will incur a $50 alternative payment source fee.

Can I use my credit card to fund my IRA or make an investment?
No. A credit card can only be used to pay AET account fees. IRA contributions must be made via ACH, wire transfer, or check.
When will my credit card be charged?
If you have automatic payments enabled, your card will be charged on the 3rd of each month. If you prefer manual payments, you must pay before the due date to avoid late fees.
What happens if my credit card payment fails?
