Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) at American Estate & Trust (AET)
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an essential security measure that provides an extra layer of protection for your account. At AET, 2FA is enabled on all accounts, and it requires you to enter a six-digit verification code before logging in. Below are the details about how 2FA works and how to set it up on your account:
How Does 2FA Work?
AET supports two 2FA methods, both of which require you to enter a six-digit verification code:
-
Mobile Phone Number
-
A text message with a six-digit code will be sent to your registered mobile phone.
-
Enter this code when logging in.
-
-
Email Address
-
If you don’t have a mobile number set up for 2FA, a six-digit code will be sent to your email address on file.
-
Enter this code to proceed with login.

How to Set Up 2FA on Your Account
Enable 2FA via Mobile Phone
Follow these steps to enable 2FA using your mobile number:
-
Login to the Online Portal.
-
Click on the "Profile" tab on the left side of the screen.
-
Select the "Phone Numbers" header.
-
If your mobile phone number has already been added:
-
Select your number from the list.
-
Click the 3-dot menu next to the number and choose "Verify".
-
A text message will be sent with a six-digit code. Enter the code to verify your number.
-
After verification, click the 3-dot menu again and select "Enable 2FA".
-
-
If your mobile phone number is not added:
-
Click "Add Number".
-
Select "Mobile Phone" and click "Next".
-
Choose a number label from the dropdown and click "Next".
-
Enter a valid U.S. mobile number with an area code.
-
Check the box labeled "Use as Two Factor Authorization Number" and click "Next".
-
If you don’t set up a mobile phone for 2FA, AET will automatically use your email address to send a 2FA code when you log in.
How to Deactivate 2FA on Your Account
If you need to deactivate 2FA, contact AET Support via telephone. You’ll need to provide the following to verify your identity:
-
Verbal authorization
-
Social Security Number
-
Date of Birth
-
Full Name
-
Email Address
Important Notes:
-
Deactivation can only be handled via phone—email or chat requests won’t be accepted.
-
If verification fails, the issue will be escalated to management for further review.
-
If no mobile phone is linked to your account, 2FA will default to email authentication. To switch to mobile phone-based 2FA, follow the setup instructions above.
-
Regardless of the method (text or email), the six-digit 2FA code is required each time you log in.
