Yes, you can withdraw or distribute precious metals from your IRA to yourself. However, **distributions from an IRA are considered taxable events**, and the IRS may require you to report the value of the metals distributed. If you are considering withdrawing metals from your account, it is recommended that you consult a tax professional to fully understand the tax implications. To request an **in-kind withdrawal** of precious metals from your IRA, follow the instructions below to submit a **Direction of Investment (DOI)** request. ### **Before You Begin:** - **Complete the Withdrawal Form**: The **Withdrawal Form** is required to process your request. Please complete the form and save a copy for upload during the DOI submission process. ### **Instructions for Creating a DOI for Precious Metals Withdrawal:** 1. **Log in to Your Online Portal** - Access your account through the **AET Online Portal**. 2. Click on the **Move Money** button. - Select **"Distribution"** from the menu. 3. **Withdrawal Type** - Choose **Full** 4. **Enter the Withdrawal Amount** - Enter **1.00** (use only numerals and a decimal point; no dollar sign or commas). - This amount is used to facilitate any applicable withdrawal or account fees. 5. **Select Withdrawal Method** - Choose **New**. 6. **Select Funding Method** - Choose **Check.** 7. **Enter Recipient Information** - **Recipient Name**: Enter your full legal name. - **Street Address, City, State, Zip**: Enter your personal mailing address. 8. **Carrier and Shipping Speed** - **Carrier**: Select **FedEx** or **USPS** for handling the shipping of your metals. - **Shipping Speed**: Choose from **FedEx 1-Day, FedEx 2-Day, or any USPS shipping speed**. 9. **Handling Notes** (Optional) - Enter any additional handling instructions if necessary. - If you are **closing your account**, specify: **“PLEASE CLOSE MY ACCOUNT AND DISTRIBUTE ALL ASSETS & FUNDS”**. 10. **Upload Documents** - **Description**: Enter a description of the document being uploaded (e.g., **"Withdrawal Form"**). - **Select Files to Upload**: Click to upload your completed **Withdrawal Form**. 11. **Review and Submit** - Click **"Review"** to verify the accuracy of the information entered. - Click **"Submit"** to finalize your withdrawal request. ### **Additional Information:** - **Shipping & Account Fees**: You will be notified if any **shipping fees** or **account fees** are required before your withdrawal is processed. - **Processing Time**: Precious metals withdrawals and shipping may take up to **3 weeks**. - **Follow-Up**: Regularly check the **status of your DOI** to ensure it is processed and to address any additional requirements. ### **Note:** All DOI requests are reviewed within **3-5 business days** of submission.
